In 1994 my perspective of the world transformed forever when I spent a year in Europe. Between the summer and winter with my relatives in Tuscany, and the fall and spring at the University Complutense of Madrid, I enjoyed many opportunities to explore the countryside in Spain and Italy. The incredible beauty surrounding me penetrated my soul as nothing ever had before. The deep history of the world spoke to me at every turn. Hundred year old ghosts floated around me on the cobblestone roads.

This environment compelled me to buy a box of pastels and a drawing pad. I spent hours recreating landscapes from my favorite postcards. Upon my return to California I entered into a deep depression as I longed for Spain and Italy, until...I bought some acrylics. I became obsessed with completing my paintings quickly, and the fast drying acrylics met my needs. I use bright colors to evoke positive moods and I love adding thick mediums to create texture you can't resist touching.

In May of 1999 I journeyed to Los Angeles to see the historic exhibit of my favorite artist, Vincent Van Gogh. This show inspired me to share my own work for the first time. I joined the Valley of the Moon Art Association on the plaza in Sonoma that same summer of 1999. The delightful reactions I receive from viewers and patrons have been the fuel that inspires new ideas and the desire to make art the central focus in my life. After five successful summers of showing my artwork, I have enrolled in the fine arts program at Sacramento State University and look forward to a new period of growth and development. I also look forward to sharing my work with all of you who take a moment to appreciate it.
